Walter C. “Kit” Regnery, President of The Joanna Foundation, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Kit re-established The Joanna Foundation in 1988 with renewed energy and sustained focus on encouraging organizations that strengthen community capacity and enable individual involvement in addressing public problems with an emphasis on the South Carolina Lowcountry and the communities of Newberry and Joanna. He worked quietly and collaboratively in both the public and private sectors to bring projects to fruition, neither seeking nor wishing public recognition. He will be deeply missed.
